Born in 1987. She began studying the violin at the age of five.

In 1997, she placed 3rd in the elementary school students section of the Tokyo branch of the 51st All-Japan Students Music Concours. In 2001, she placed 1st in the Novosibirsk International Violin Concours (junior division). In April 2002, she won 1st place in the Young Musicians Menuhin International Violin Concours (junior division).

She also participates in seminars and performance activities enthusiastically. In 1996, she participated in the Kusatsu Summer Academy and performed in the closing concert. In 1999, she appeared in the Entertaining Classical Mini-Concert produced by Masashi Isoyama, and in the same year, she gave a joint concert of the Sarasate “Navarra” with Iwao Furusawa and others in Hyuga City of Miyazaki Prefecture. Beginning in 1999, she attended the 1st Yokohama Zakhar Bron Violin Seminar, and continued attending every year for a total of 4 years.

She performed in the celebratory concert of that seminar in both July 2000 and March 2002. And in September 2002, she gave a joint concert with the graduates orchestra of the Toho Gakuen Music Department 50th Anniversary Concert under the baton of Seiji Ozawa. In both 2003 and 2004, she participated in the Sato Memorial Chamber Music Research Session held at Oku Shiga Plateau; in May 2004, she participated in the Seiji Ozawa Opera Class; in September 2003, she received high praise for her join concerts with the Kyoto Municipal Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Naoto Otomo and a solo recital at the Kyoto Autumn Music Festival.

In 2004, she received high praise for her appearances with the Yomiuri Japan Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gerd Albrecht; the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra; the New Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kazumasa Watanabe; the Tokyo Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kazumasa Watanabe: the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Naoto Otomo; the Osaka Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Masahiko Enkoji, and in a regular subscription concert of the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yasutsugu Iimori.

In June 2005, Chiharu Taki gave a superb performance of the Prokofiev Violin Concert No. 1 with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hubert Soudant. In August of that year she performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra under Masahiko Enkoji; and in May 2006, the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under Norichika Iimori. Taki collaborated with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ken-ichiro Kobayashi, in January 2007; the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra under Byron Fidetzis in March ’07; the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra under Shizuo Kuwahara in August ’07; and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Masahiko Enkoji, also in August ’07. Chiharu Taki will perform in Greece with the Athens Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Leos Svarovsky, in May 2008. Up to the present, she has studied under Reiko Uemura and Akiko Tatsumi. In March 2005, she graduated from the music department of the Toho Womens High School. At present, she is studying with Zakhar Bron at the Zurich Music University. Chiharu Taki is one of the most promising rising stars among today’s young violinists.
